SpiderForest Webcomic Collective
Hi! I'm Kez, a member of the SpiderForest webcomic collective ( SF is accepting applications for new members until July 24th. SF is home to over 30 comics of multiple genres and ratings. Twice yearly we take applications, and all current members go over each application (and comic!) in depth before voting on it for entry. It's a time-consuming process, so we take applications pretty rarely.
There are only 3 requirements for membership: update your comic (preferably at least once weekly), vote in new members when the time comes, and display the rotating SF banner above the fold on your site.
While many members have DA accounts and display their comics here, DA is not an optimal place to showcase a comic. Many webcomic readers hate to read comics on DA because of ads, slowness of loading, and the lack of other information (like cast/about/archive pages). SF offers a FREE and quality home for your webcomic, with an easy to use archival code in standard webcomic fo

Animal Behavior Cover

Arisu slid down the drelaminate wall, tasting copper and pepper and fear, and the rational part of her mind thought: should have taken my chances with Cannon Row.

Cover art for a short story I wrote over the summer -- the first I've finished since I was fifteen. :) It was done as part of a bonus bundle for my collective's Kickstarter and though at seven thousand words it's not  all that, er, short, I'm proud of it. It and the short comic I wrote for that same Kickstarter are up on Gumroad, for the interested.

Something More -- A SpiderForest Anthology Story
*shakes dust off DeviantArt account*

My webcomics collective, SpiderForest, has put together our first-ever anthology! Members were challenged to come up with stories that featured spiders and forests. This is a page from my submission (set in my main comic universe, for those who follow it) in which the cyberadept Spider discovers a thief... and uncovers a dilemma. I really tried to step up my art game for this one, and I'm pretty proud of how it came out.

The anthology features a whole bunch of stories from other talented collective members as well, and the Kickstarter campaign features all sorts of extra goodies, including pins, prints, a coloring book, and loads of custom art tiers. It runs until July 14th so please check it out!

I am a storyteller. I've never yet seen a medium that didn't inspire a story from me. Up until recently I'd mostly worked in novels, but then I discovered the wonderful, time-eating beast known as 3D art. And then I made a webcomic. I'm sure logic was employed at some step in this process, but don't ask me where.

I currently live with my husband in rural Virginia and work on my family's farm, but I have previously lived and worked in North Carolina, New Zealand, Wales, and Ontario. I have an English degree that is a great deal more useful than it sounds. I have a tendency to greet pets but forget to do the same for their owners. And -- oh yes -- I tell stories.

The rest, as Anne McCaffery once said, is subject to change without notice.

Happy Birthday! :w00t:

Sounds like life has been pretty demanding of you lately, but I hope you get plenty of R&R (and maybe even have some fun) today!

Thank you! Yeah, it's been a weird, crazy, and not entirely good year (second death in the family recently) but I'm treading water. And I had a good birthday. My brother got the first 65 pages of my comic printed POD to give to me, which made me cry a little. (And then I reread them and remembered how BAD they were and cried some more, but hey. I still have the awesomest brother ever.)

Sounds like things have been rough for you lately as well, I hope they get to looking up soon.

Thanks so much for the watch!

Thank you for the watch. I'm impressed by your work, especially your webcomic (I've only had time for a brief glance, but I've got it bookmarked to come back and read it properly).

One day I'm hoping to get around to producing an online graphic novel of my own, if I ever get organised enough to do it justice. I fully understand how much work and commitment it takes to produce such a thing, and thus I'm impressed and admiring of your efforts.

Great stuff!

Thanks -- and thank *you* for putting out the awesome freebies. Without people like you the comic would have crashed before it started for lack of funds. ;)

The comic is definitely a work of love. I chafe sometimes at the update schedule, the lack of getting my renders looking *just so*... but if I let myself do that, I think I'd never be done, so in a way the pressure helps. And, as works of love will, it's given me a surprising amount of love back. If you ever get your own stuff going I hope you'll have the same experience. (And the art will probably be MUCH better....)

I will now proceed to dAstalk you now, since your webcomic honestly rocks.
